High Impact Staff

High Impact Lacrosse takes a tremendous amount of pride in their coaching staff and quality of instructors. We make sure our coaches are great role models with a strong background in education and the sport of lacrosse. All our coaches are highly qualified and look forward to offering their knowledge of the game to the developing lacrosse player.
Drew Werney
Owner/Founder
Coach Drew is the owner and founder of High Impact Lacrosse and the Youth Director for Team 91 Tristate. Drew made his way back east after a quick stint as the head varsity coach at Aliso Niguel HS in CA, his roots are in NY with a long, varied background in lacrosse. After graduating form Somers HS in Westchester County as a multi-sport athlete, he attended a post-graduate year at Bridgeton Academy. Drew then went on to become a 4 year member of the Stony Brook Lacrosse team where he graduated with a BA in American History. He continued his education at Manhattanville College where he received his Masters Degree in Physical Education. He continues to pursue a career as a health coach while giving back to the game he loves. He was the Head Coach for Irvington HS when he was named “Rivertowns Coach of the Year” twice during his 8 yrs. During the World Games in 2014 coach Drew joined the coaching staff for the Poland National team. He is currently the Co-Director for Team 91-Tristate which is one of the most well respected lacrosse organizations in the country. During the spring Drew focuses much of his attention on the youth programs in the area where his patience and knowledge are a big aspect of helping the youth lacrosse players develop.
Sarah Scott
Training Program Coach
Sarah attended the University of North Carolina where she had two NCAA championship appearances and won a national championship in 2013. Sarah was a 2015 team captain leading the team to its second NCAA Championship appearance. She was named to that 2015 NCAA all tournament team. She was also named 2nd team All ACC the same year. Sarah broke the UNC single game draw control record and single season draw control record her junior year. Sarah was a Veteran Leader in the Richard A. Baddour Carolina Leadership Academy, one of the highest positions in the nation's premier leadership development program in collegiate athletics. In high school, Sarah was an All- Section Honoree for three years. She was a 2x team captain and reached the state final four twice. Sarah was named to ESPN Rise's top 20 defenders in 2011. Sarah has been coaching youth lacrose 2012 and is currently is the Assistant Coach for the Yorktown girls Varsity lacrosse, team helping them win their first section title in 2016 since she graduated in 2011 and has been involved since.
Peter Vlahakis
Co-Director
Peter's knowledge of the game started in Shoreham Wading River where he received All-County honors in high school. Peter went on to play at Fairfield University where he was the teams MVP in '08. He continued his lacrosse career playing professional for the NJ Pride, NY Lizards, and the Outlaws. He was a 2X All-Star and still holds the record in the MLL for most face-offs won. Peter was the assistant coach for Adelphi University and is currently the head coach for Northwest Catholic HS in West Hartford CT.
John Ranagan
Director of Twilight Lacrosse
John started his lacrosse career at Yorktown where he was a 2X All-American and Under Armour All-American his senior year. He went on to play at Johns Hopkins University where he established himself as one of the best midfielders in the country and was named All-American multiple times. John is currently a member of the Rochester Rattlers team when he was selected as the 17th overall pick in 2013 and was an MLL All-Star his rookie year. During the winter he plays for the Philadelphia Wings in the indoor professional lacrosse league (NLL)
Mike Orefice
Face-off Specialist
After a great showing in the '16 Final Four, Mike lead the Loyola Greyhounds in Face-offs as a Sophomore. Before he started his college carrier at Loyola he was a three-year starter at Iona Prep. Named the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) Face-off Man of the Year his sophomore, junior and senior seasons… Also named the Hudson Valley’s Face-off Man of the Year in 2014
